内容提要需求引致创新这一理论虽然得到普遍认可,但鲜有微观实证考察市场需求与企业创新的因果关系。本文通过中国城镇居民收支调查数据构造家电消费的市场规模,与中国工业企业数据库的相关行业进行匹配,利用工具变量构造克服了内生性问题,检验了1996-2009年中国家电行业市场规模对企业创新的影响。实证结果表明,家电市场规模提高1%,则创新投入提高0.9%,创新产出提高1.2%,创新效率提高6.6%。企业创新与产业发展程度密切相关,处于产业萌芽和成长期的企业相比于处于产业停滞和衰退期的企业,其市场规模对创新产出的影响系数相差3倍。此外,企业的创新行为具有一定的超前性,未来的市场需求是企业创新的重要指引。 
AbstractAlthough the theory of Demand-induced Innovation has been widely accepted, there is little empirical research on the causality between consumer demand and enterprise innovation. This paper use Chinese Urban Household Income and Expenditure Survey to construct the market size of household appliance, and matched the market size with relevant sectors from China Annual Survey of Industrial Firms. We employ an instrumental variables strategy to solve the endogeneity problem, then establish a causal relation between changes in household appliance market size and innovation activities of corresponding enterprises from 1996 to 2009. The empirical results show that when the household appliance market size increased by 1%, the input of innovation is increased by 0.9%, the output of innovation is increased by 1.2%, and the efficiency of innovation is increased by about 6.6%. Enterprise innovation is closely related to the industrial development phase. We find that the regression coefficient of market size on innovation output is 3 times larger in sunrise industries than sunset industries. In addition, the enterprise's innovation behavior is somewhat advanced, since the future market demand is also an important guide for enterprise innovation.
